Midwest's top 10 Master's universities |
For
the 17th consecutive year, John Carroll University ranks among
the top 10 universities in the Midwest that grant master's degrees,
according to the 2006 edition of "America's Best Colleges" published by U.S. News & World Report. The Jesuit university
was 1st in gra duation
rate, tied for 6th overall, and 11th among universities selected
for the "Great Schools, Great Prices" value category comparing
academic excellence with cost.
"The best way to assess our university is to make a personal
visit and talk to our students, faculty and alumni," said Academic
Vice President David La Guardia, Ph.D. "But the U.S. News rankings
are significant in that they rely heavily on the assessment
of our peers. We have consistently ranked high, especially in
the critical areas of retention and graduation and that indicates
we are meeting our students' needs and expectations."
U.S. News examined more than 1,400 four-year schools divided
into categories based on guidelines established by the Carnegie
