Andrew
Welki, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Economics
and Finance at John Carroll University will receive the university's Distinguished
Faculty Award at the university's commencement ceremonies on May 22, 2005.Welki, a resident of University Heights , has been a member of the John Carroll faculty since 1982. In 2003, Welki became the first university faculty member to become a three-time recipient of the Wasmer Teaching Award, presented annually to an outstanding professor in the John M. and Mary Jo Boler School of Business at John Carroll. Established in 1976, the Distinguished Faculty Award is presented annually to a faculty member who best demonstrates quality classroom performance, a balanced contribution to scholarship and community service, and dedication to the spirit of Jesuit education. Welki, received his undergraduate degree from Wilkes College and his Ph.D. from Penn State University . In addition to the Wasmer Teaching Award, Welki has also received the Boler School of Business Advisory Council's Outstanding Business Teacher award in 1989, the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Economic Educator of the Year in Cleveland award in 1992, and was named the Sam Walton Free Enterprise Fellow by SIFE in 1996. |
