Check-In Process for Students Living On-Campus
All first-year students living on-campus will move into their residence hall room on Thursday, August 28, 2008. For your unloading appointment time, please refer to the summer e-mail that you received from the Office of Residence Life. Please note the time of your unloading appointment carefully. As a courtesy to all of the other students and families who will be coming that day, please do not come before your scheduled time.
In order to provide for a smooth and hopefully painless process on Move-In Day, we ask that you follow the directions on each of the maps below (in PDF format) to your specific residence hall. Please take special note of the campus entrance used for your residence hall to maintain a convenient and consistent flow.
Pacelli Hall
Sutowski Hall
Murphy Hall (Blue)
Murphy Hall (Yellow)
Families should stay with the car in the designated area (depending on what building you live in) and students should come over to the IM Gym to get their keys and other check-in information.
To help facilitate the move-in process please note the following things:
- Make sure to bring the unloading appointment time card you received from Residence Life. You will need to download and print this card from the e-mail you received.
- You are entering unloading zones only.
-
The process is to pull up, unload and move your vehicle as directed.
- Keep all computers, printers, and other equipment in boxes (it is easier to
carry).
- Keep clothes in bags and suitcases (loose clothing on hangers gets lost and
is too bulky to carry).
- Label all of your boxes and bags with your name, residence hall, and room number.
- We recommend that you have a renter's insurance policy (this can be done through your homeowner's insurance) to cover any items that may be lost or mistakenly broken, not just on move-in day, but throughout the year as well. We will not be responsible for any lost or accidentally broken items.
- Feel free to bring your own dollies and other wheeled equipment to help the process run smoothly.
- A team of current JCU students, faculty, and staff will assist each family moving in. Each team will also have a large bin to help transport items from the unloading zone to the student's room.
- Students are asked to be finished moving in to their room and say goodbye to their families by 5:00 PM on Thursday night, when the first activity for the students begins.
