Welcome to Amnesty International at JCU!

Who We Are

Amnesty International USA (AIUSA) is the national branch of a worldwide not-for-profit organization that fights human rights abuse in many forms.  The JCU chapter applied for status as a student organization in March of 2003 and became official in August 2003.  We are a small group of students, faculty, and administrators and we are looking for new members.  Anyone in the JCU community is welcome to join.  To become a member of our chapter simply come to our meetings.  Please email skaye@jcu.edu for the next meeting date and time.

How We Work

AIUSA has its own web site at http://www.amnestyusa.org/.  Anyone can join the national branch.  It asks for a small tax deductible donation.  AIUSA membership will enable you to receive human rights updates directly from the national office.  Several members of the JCU chapter are members of AIUSA.  They act as liaison between AIUSA and the John Carroll community so that not everyone has to join the national branch.  The main goal of the JCU chapter is to coordinate activist efforts and organize consciousness raising events.
