The Department of Political Science seeks to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge about politics and to enhance intellectual skills that encourage critical analysis and evaluation of that knowledge. Political science is a social science discipline in the tradition of liberal arts and sciences. Its subject matter embraces political institutions of government, political behavior, and political theory.

STUDENT FELLOWSHIPS AWARDED

RALPH BUNCH * FULBRIGHT * TRUMAN

RALPH BUNCH: Taneisha Means spent the summer of 2008 in Durham, NC, in the prestigious and highly competitive Ralph Bunch Summer Institute at Duke University.

FULBRIGHT: Dina Baky will spend nine months in the Bordeaux Region of France, teaching students ages 8-11. Baky will begin her Fulbright teaching assistantship in October.

FULBRIGHT: Joshua Marcin will pursue independent research in El Salvador, for approximately one year. His Fulbright fellowship provides a grant to study the banking and financial education options for families in El Salvador who are receiving money from relatives working abroad (remittances).

TRUMAN: Joshua Marcin won this highly prestigious scholarship in 2008.
