Undergraduate Political Science Studies
Requirements for the Minor in Political Science

An undergraduate student may minor in Political Science at John Carroll University selecting from three different minor "areas of concentration". These minor "areas of concentration" are: United States Politics, Foreign Affairs, and General Political Science.

Course requirements for Political Science Minors are listed below:

UNITED STATES POLITICSs: 18 hours. PO 101 is required, in addition to 15 hours of coursework selected from among PO 201, 204, 207, 213, 295, 301, 302, 303, 305, 309, 310, 312, 313, 315, 316, 317, 318, 319, 361, 363, 395, 417, and 440. No more than 6 hours of elective work may be at the 200 level.

FOREIGN AFFAIRS: 18 hours. PO 102 and 103 are required, in addition to 12 hours of coursework selected from among AR 291, PO 220, 254, 296, 297, 311, 320, 334, 35, 337, 350, 351, 355, 356, 357, 396, 397, 420, 428, and 458. No more than 6 hours of elective work may be at the 200-level.

GENERAL POLITICAL SCIENCE: 18 hours. Two courses at the 100 level plus four additional PO courses (including AR 291), with no more than 6 hours at the 200 level.

NOTE: With the permission of the department chair, PO 398 may be used to fulfill minor requirements, depending upon the specific emphasis of a particular PO 398 offering.
