Recently US News and World report listed audiology as one of the highly rated jobs for 2006. This is based on the level of prestige the job offers along with the reported job satisfaction expressed by those in the profession. It is thought the swelling of the ranks of our older citizenry by the baby boomers is calling for better hearing and speech aids than is currently available and that this aging population is going to seek out therapies that enhance hearing and speech to a greater degree that previous generations. More over, this is a profession that offers a high level of one-on-one patient contact, something that many seeking to enter healthcare say is important to them. One also works with a wide range of clients from children to the elderly.
