CALL FOR PAPERS

Students are invited to submit abstracts of papers for the 18th Annual Ohio Undergraduate Psychology Research Conference, which will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2004 at John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio. All undergraduate students are eligible to submit reports of psychological research. Most papers will report traditional empirical research, but papers using qualitative methods, observation, or data from archives are also welcome. All papers must have a faculty sponsor who is responsible for assuring the quality of the work. Submission deadline: April 3, 2004

There are two ways to submit abstracts:

1) Click on the link to the left for electronic submission.

2) By e-mail as a Microsoft Word attachment to larsen@jcu.edu, with Conference Abstract in the subject line.

Either method will require the following

The title of your presentation
The names of the authors of the presentation, their affiliations, and email addresses
The name and email of your faculty sponsor
A 50-word abstract of your paper
A summary of your paper that is no more than 1000 words in length explaining the purpose, method, results, and conclusions of your research

All presentations will be oral. Each presentation will be limited to 15 minutes, including set up and questions. Facilities for PowerPoint presentations and for showing video tapes will be available to all presenters. Multiple submissions by authors are welcome as are papers with multiple authors. You will be notified by email about the status of your abstract. Non presenters are welcome to attend and a free lunch will be provided for all those attending.

There will be an address by Dr. Brett Pelham describing his extensive research program on self perception, person perception, social inference, and stereotyping. The title of his talk is “What I Learned about Science from Jerry Derryberry”. Dr. Pelham, Associate Professor of Psychology at SUNY Buffalo, is Visiting Senior Scientist for the American Psychological Association this year.
