Packy Hyland, Jr.Entrepreneurs Association hears Packy Hyland, Jr.

Packy Hyland, Jr., informed and entertained members and guests at the annual Entrepreneurs Association dinner meeting last week at John Carroll with the story of how he has been able to retire at the age of 33.  Hyland Software, the firm he founded at the age of 23, made the Deloitte & Touche list of the 500 fastest growing tech firms in the country last year and Hyland was Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year.  He gave much credit to his father, a '64 alumnus, for help in getting started, and to a book, Rhinoceros Success by Scott Alexander, for inspiration in getting started.  Hyland Software's flagship product is the OnBase integrated document management system that enables organizations to streamline work processes and share information among employees, partners and customers. Emcee'ing the event was Gordon Priemer '64, president of Heartland Developers, Inc., and chairman of the Entrepreneurs Association.
