Oliver Rafferty SJ, speaks on Irish Literature

Dr. Oliver Rafferty, SJPrior to concluding his term as Hopkins Profesor of British Literature last September, Oliver P. Rafferty SJ, professor of Ecclesiastical History at St. Patrick's Maynooth, delivered a series of public lectures on Irish literature. 

In the first lecture, Dr. Rafferty explored the role of Irish literature in the construction of the Irish national identity, touching on the work of such authors as James Clarence Mangan and Thomas Davis, and leading into William Butler Yeats, to whose thought and work he devoted his second lecture, on Ireland's "poetic revolution," 1912-1922.
