On a 'just war'
...
and painful reality

Army Captain Christopher Britton '98 was killed in the crash of a Blackhawk helicopter.

Even as Assistant Professor Steve Krupa SJ was beginning his lecture yesterday (Mar 13) on "Just War and Nonviolence: Christian and Catholic Perspectives," he paused with the rest of the Carroll community in dealing with the painful reality of taking up arms. Father Krupa asked the audience to join him in a moment of silence for Christopher Britton '98 who died on Tuesday (Mar 11) in the crash of a United States Army Blackhawk helicopter at Fort Drum, New York. Captain Britton had recently returned from a peacekeeping deployment to Kosovo and was training for possible operations in Afganistan or Southwest Asia. He is shown in the photo (above right) after singing with JCU's Schola Cantorum at commencement. Father Krupa asked for prayers also "for all in the military."
