Senior Brandon Greene and first-year students Tiffany Russaw and Monica Colon, accompanied by Public Affairs Director Jerry Sheehan, met with legislators and staff to request budget support for Ohio Student Choice Grants and Ohio Instructional Grants. Legislators included Senator Eric Fingerhut and State Representatives Lance Mason, Shirley Smith, and Dale Miller. "Our students did a wonderful job of explaining how the State's financial aid programs make it possible for them to go to college," Sheehan said, "and why they chose John Carroll specifically." The Ohio General Assembly currently is drafting the State's operating budget for fiscal years 2004 and 2005. The students also met Peter Yarrow (of Peter Paul & Mary), who was honored by the legislature for his social justice advocacy.
