Carl Taseff also played basketball for a time (left), but made his fame on the gridiron (center), causing this and many another JCU opponent to grab nothing but air when they tried to tackle him. Posing with his Most Valuable Player trophy from the Cleveland Touchdown Club (right), Taseff also was named Little All-America, All-Ohio, All-Big Four and a member of the North in the 1950 Shrine Bowl in Miami, Florida. More than a half-century after his college career ended, he still holds eight Blue Streaks football records. He went onto a solid NFL career and later coached for JCU teammate Don Shula on the Miami Dolphins.
