Archbishop Michael L. Fitzgerald, M. Afr., president, Pontifical Council for Inter- Religious Dialogue at Vatican City, will be the guest of the Cardinal Suenens Center at John Carroll University on Monday, March 20, 2006 at 5 p.m. Fitzgerald will give a lecture entitled “The Muslim-Christian Dialogue-Where Do I Find Hope.” In his lecture Fitzgerald will address the question, “Is dialogue with other religions more difficult and more urgent?”. |

Archbishop Fitzgerald is president of the Pontifical Council for Inter-Religious
Dialogue at the Vatican. On February 15, 2006, Archbishop Fitzgerald was
appointed as apostolic nuncio to the Arab Republic of Egypt and delegate
to the organization of the League of Arab States. He has the responsibility
of promoting good relationships between the Roman Catholic Church and the
world’s other faiths, particularly Islam.
Fitzgerald has spent a lifetime studying Islamic religion
and culture and speaks Arabic. He holds a doctorate in theology and a
degree in languages from London University. |
