The Mellen Chair in Finance at John Carroll University Presents

Mr. David A. Daberko, Chairman and CEO of the
National City Corporation

WHAT:

Mr. David A. Daberko, Chairman and CEO of the National City Corporation, will be
the guest of the Boler School of Business at John Carroll University on Tuesday, April
11, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. Daberko will be the featured speaker in the department’s Spring
2006 Mellen Series.

Mr. Daberko will speak as a part of this year’s Mellen Series which, through the Mellen Chair, invites chief executives of Ohio-headquartered, publicly traded, firms to discuss current and expected financial developments in their companies. The presentations in this series offer a rare chance for directing questions at corporate decision makers about their business and managerial strategies. The series was established by the Edward J. and Louise E. Mellen Foundation, which also funded the Mellen Chair in Finance at John Carroll.

WHO:

Daberko joined National City Bank in Cleveland as a management trainee in 1968. He was later promoted to vice president of the bank investment division and department head of the metropolitan lending division. Shortly after, he was named executive vice president of the corporate banking group of National City Corporation and of National City Bank in Cleveland.

Later in 1985, Mr. Daberko led the integration of the former BancOhio National Bank into National City Bank in Columbus, Ohio. Upon his return to Cleveland in 1987, he was elected deputy chairman of the Corporation and president of National City Bank in Cleveland. He served as president and chief operating officer of the Corporation until he was named chief executive officer.

Mr. Daberko earned a bachelor’s degree from Denison University and a master's degree in Business Administration from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University.
