DR. CHRISTOPHER FAIVER RECEIVES DISTINGUISHED FACULTY AWARD
FROM JOHN CARROLL UNIVERSITY

Cleveland, OH - Christopher M. Faiver, Ph.D., coordinator of the Community Counseling Master’s Program at John Carroll University, will receive the university’s Distinguished Faculty Award at commencement ceremonies on May 21, 2006. Faiver has been a member of the John Carroll faculty since 1989. Since that time he has worked diligently at building the Community Counseling Program which received national accreditation from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs in 1997 and again in 2003. Faiver is a resident of Lakewood, Ohio.

Established in 1976, the Distinguished Faculty Award is presented annually to a faculty member who best demonstrates quality classroom performance, a balanced contribution to scholarship and community service, and dedication to the spirit of Jesuit education.

Faiver received his undergraduate degree from Hiram College summa cum laude and his Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University. In addition to being a professor at John Carroll, Faiver has played an important role in the creation and growth of several local professional counseling organizations. He is also a co-founder of the North Central Ohio Association and the John Carroll Beta Chi chapter of Chi Sigma Iota. In addition to the university’s Distinguished Faculty Award, Faiver has received the Dee Elias Award for Community Service from the Eastern Ohio Counseling Association, the Dave Brooks Award in 1998, and the Chuck Weaver Award for Distinguished Service to the counseling profession in 2003 both from the Ohio Counseling Association.
John Carroll University, located in Cleveland, Ohio, is a liberal arts university grounded in the Jesuit, Catholic tradition.
