John Carroll University Announces
the Appointment of a
Vice President for Enrollment
Cleveland, OH –
The Reverend Robert L. Niehoff, SJ, president of John Carroll University,
today announced the appointment of Brian G. Williams as vice president
for enrollment. Williams will start his new position on July 5, 2006.
“Brian’s credentials are exemplary,”
said Father Niehoff. “He has worked in the fields of enrollment
management, admission, recruitment, retention and financial aid, developing
strategies for success for which he is widely recognized. People for whom
and with whom he has worked give him high marks for planning, campus collaboration,
IT expertise and staff supervision — competencies that will serve
him and the university well as he assumes the role of chief enrollment
officer.”
“In order to recruit the highest quality, most experienced administrative
officer, the university deemed it necessary to upgrade this position from
its former level of associate vice president, to vice president, reporting
directly to me,” said Niehoff. In addition to serving on the president’s
advisory council, Williams will also have a seat on the administrative
leadership team. It is critically important that the position of vice
president for enrollment maintains regular contact with the academic sector,
its faculty and the university’s leadership,” observed Niehoff.
The search committee, chaired by Patrick Rombalski, Ed.D.,
vice president for Student Affairs, also included members of the faculty,
board of directors, administrators and representatives from the student
body, all of whom had an opportunity to participate in the interview process.
Williams has served as dean of enrollment services at
Providence College since 1998, where he was responsible for developing,
implementing and managing a comprehensive strategic enrollment plan to
achieve the graduate and undergraduate enrollment, retention and net tuition
revenue goals set forth in Providence College’s overall strategic
plan. From 1995 to 1998 Williams served as associate director of admission
and operations at La Salle University. Prior to his service at La Salle,
he worked as an admissions counselor at Saint Louis University.
Williams earned his B.A. in English from the University of New Hampshire
and his M.A. in Higher Education Administration from Boston College. His
professional affiliations include the New England Association of Collegiate
Registrars and Admissions Officers, the New England Banner User Group,
the National Association for College Admission Counseling, CollegeBoard
and EDUCAUSE.
In announcing the appointment, Father Niehoff also thanked Tom Fanning,
interim associate vice president for enrollment, for “guiding the
university’s enrollment activities for the past year.” Niehoff
said, “I am sure that the entire university community will join
me in expressing our appreciation to Tom and his staff for their patience
and hard work this year and for their support in this critically important
university search.”
