John Carroll University Announces
New Director of Career Services

CLEVELAND, OH – Hilary Flanagan joined John Carroll University on June 26, 2006 as director of the Center for Career Services. Most recently, Flanagan served as associate director of the Career Center at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island. She joined Roger Williams in 2001 as assistant director of the Career Center.

“In the few weeks since her arrival, Hilary has impressed me with her enthusiasm and the freshness of her ideas. The Center for Career Services has been lending our students invaluable support for years. Under Hilary's creative leadership, it's ready to move to an even higher level of effectiveness and productivity,” said Dr. James H. Krukones, associate academic vice president.

Hilary Flanagan is originally from St. Louis, MO. She graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with a B.S. in government. After serving as weapons officer on board the USCGC Seneca, she became the assistant housing officer for the U.S. Coast Guard’s Integrated Support Command in Boston. Flanagan holds an M.Ed. in student development in higher education from the University of Maine.

“There’s nothing routine about what we do in career services,” explained Flanagan. “Students are always changing. We realize that college seniors are putting their job search off longer. I look forward to working with John Carroll students to help them move from college life to career.”

John Carroll University, located in Cleveland, Ohio, is a liberal arts university grounded in the Jesuit, Catholic tradition. The university has some 3,350 plus undergraduates and just over 750 graduate students. The U.S. News & World Report’s 2006 annual college guide ranks John Carroll University among the top 10 master’s-degree granting universities in the Midwest and first in average graduation rate. Originally founded as St. Ignatius College in 1886, the university was renamed in 1923 to honor America’s first Catholic bishop, John Carroll of Maryland.
John Carroll is one of 28 Jesuit colleges and universities located in the United States.
