WHAT:

John
Allen, Jr., Rome correspondent for The National Catholic Reporter and Vatican
analyst for National Public Radio, CNN and ABC, will be the guest of The
Cardinal Suenens Center and the Division of Student Affairs at John Carroll
University on Thursday, September 14, 2006 at 5:30 p.m. The award winning
Vatican correspondent will present a lecture entitled “Still an Insider
at the Vatican & Now with All Things Catholic.”
Allen has been interviewed by Terry Gross on NPR’s
“Fresh Air,” and written about in The New York Times, Time
and Newsweek. He is also a frequent analyst on Catholic issues and the
Vatican for CNN and ABC. |
WHO:
|
Allen’s
position as a Vatican insider provides him with a unique perspective on
the prominent issues and personalities of the Vatican. Allen recently relocated
to New York City to report more extensively on the Catholic Church in the
United States. While he will be based in Manhattan, Allen will remain The
National Catholic Reporter’s Rome correspondent. He will continue
to travel and report on the Catholic community worldwide. Additionally,
his “Word from Rome” online column is now called “All
Things Catholic.”
In addition to being an award-winning correspondent with
The National Catholic Reporter, Allen is an author. Allen recently published
Opus Dei, the first serious journalistic investigation into the highly
secretive and controversial organization. Allen’s other books include,
The Rise of Benedict XVI, All the Pope’s Men, and Conclave. His
writing has also appeared in The New York Times, the Boston Globe, and
The Nation. |
