WHAT::
|
John Carroll University will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the1956 Hungarian Revolution with an exhibit of art and photos of the Revolution, in the main lobby of Grasselli Library on its University Heights campus. There will also be a special display honoring Cardinal Mindszenty, primate of Hungary, who was imprisoned by the communists and gained a few days of freedom in 1956. Cardinal Mindszenty remained loyal and committed to the Hungarian people at a time when even the “West” turned away. An opening reception will be held Sunday, October 1 beginning at 2:30 p.m., where a new documentary film by Réka Pigniczky: “JOURNEY HOME: A Film about My Father / A Story from the Hungarian Revolution of 1956” will be shown. The October 1 reception and the month-long exhibit are free and open to the public. |
