Ohio-native Veronica Dahlberg, director of HOLA, a Latino organization based in Painesville, OH, that serves the Hispanic community and raises awareness of Latino issues, will be the guest speaker for the Dr. Shirley S. Seaton Cultural Awareness Series at John Carroll University on Tuesday, October 17, 2006. Dahlberg will reflect on the national debate on immigration issues and discuss local reaction to this dispute. |

Veronica Dahlberg is a Mexican-American who was born in Canton, Ohio. She has been an advocate for Latinos for 16 years. She is the recipient of a 2005 Women of Achievement award presented by Lakeland Community College’s Women’s Center. Also, she serves on the board of directors for the Painesville Chamber of Commerce and is secretary for the Latino Business Association of Northeast Ohio. Along with these roles, she edits HOLA’s bi-monthly publication, The HOLA Journal/El Periodico HOLA, which is distributed in both English and Spanish-language editions throughout Northeast Ohio. |
