The
Rev. Dr. Valentino Lassiter will be giving a lecture on “The Mega
Church Syndrome: A Theological Examination” on Thursday, October 26th
at 7:30 p.m. in Donahue Auditorium, in the Dolan Science Center. This lecture
is being sponsored by the Walter & Mary Tuohy Chair of Interreligious
Studies at John Carroll University. The Tuohy Chair, established at John Carroll University in 1966, was one of the first ecumenical chairs to be established at an American university. It is named for the late Walter J. Tuohy, who was chief executive officer of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway, and his wife Mary. |

The Rev. Dr. Valentino Lassiter is the author of the book Martin Luther King in the African-American Preaching Tradition, published by Pilgrim Press. An assistant professor of religious studies and pastor-in-residence at John Carroll University, Rev. Lassiter teaches courses in African-American theology, the life and theology of Martin Luther King Jr. and the theology of African-American sacred music. Rev. Lassister serves on the Ohio Conference Board of Directors for the United Church of Christ. He is also pastor of the Eastview United Church of Christ in Shaker Heights. |
