WHAT:

The
Nursi Chair in Islamic Studies at John Carroll University presents an international
conference on Islam called Islam in Contemporary Turkey: Perspectives of
Bediuzzaman Said Nursi.
Bediuzzaman Said Nursi dedicated his entire life to the teachings of the Qur’an and authored numerous books and treatises on Islamic subjects. He is most notably known for The Risale-i Nur (The Treatises of Light). The John Carroll University Department of Religious Studies
has received financial support to establish the Nursi Chair in Islamic
Studies from two Turkish businessmen inspired by the teachings of Nursi,
as well as the Muslim community of Cleveland. The conference is dedicated
to creating awareness about the Islam religion and the perception of its
practices and viewpoints around the world. |
