WHO:
His Eminence Cardinal William J. Levada will present The Margaret F. Grace 2007 annual lecture, entitled “Where Do I Find Hope?”

Cardinal Levada has become the most influential American at the Vatican.

He was named by Pope Benedict XVI as a prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in May 2005. In March 2006, Levada received the red hat from Pope Benedict XVI to become a cardinal of the church.

Levada’s previous positions include that of Archbishop of Portland in Oregon from 1986 to 1995 and Archbishop of San Francisco 1995 to 2005. He was also a principal editor of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Levada was ordained to the priesthood in St. Peter’s Basilica in 1961.

WHAT:
The Margaret F. Grace Lecture is an event of the Cardinal Suenens Center at John Carroll University and is made possible by a grant from Barbara and John Schubert.

This year’s lecture is co-sponsored by the Institute of Catholic Studies.
This event is free and open to the public.
