POWER OF PINK DAY On Friday, October 23, 2009 join Colleges Against Cancer in celebrating the Power of Pink Day! Power of Pink Day is part of the month-long breast cancer awareness campaign. Breast cancer is a malignant (cancerous) tumor that starts from cells of the breast. The disease occurs mostly in women, but men can get breast cancer too!* Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women in the United States aside from cancers of the skin. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer. About 192,370 women in the United States will be found to have invasive breast cancer in 2009. About 40,170 women will die from the disease this year. Right now there are almost two and a half million breast cancer survivors in the United States.* CAC will be distributing pink ribbons and will have literature available in the atrium that day and throughout Parents & Family Weekend. * - Information courtesy Cancer.org, the official website of the American Cancer Society
