REGISTER AS A TEAM CAPTAIN

A team captain officially creates the team on our American Cancer Society website. He/she should also serve as the team manager, and will be the team's point of contact with the Relay Leadership Team. Team captain meetings are also held in the weeks and months leading up to the Relay. Information on those meetings will be announced at a later date.

Who can be a team captain? Almost anyone. The only people unable to serve as a team captain are members of the Relay Leadership Team. Who can be a team? Commonly, teams are formed from individuals in the same student organization or athletic team, residence hall floor, class, family, or even groups of friends.

Want to start a team? Great! Sign up today as a team captain and then start recruiting. Or, contact us at relay@jcu.edu and we'll send anyone your way who is looking for a team to join.

Read below for detailed instructions on how to start a new team and register as a team captain.

1. Go to the American Cancer Society Sponsored Site for JCU, http://www.relayforlife.org/jcu.
2. Click on the "Sign Up" icon (pictured at right) under the page header.
3. Click on the giant "Start a Team" icon.
4. When prompted, type in your team name and a fundraising goal for your team. We suggest that the goal be at least $1,000, and should average to be $100 times the number of people you expect to join your team.
5. Click on "Next Step."
6. Choose your participant type of "Sign Up Now."
7. To pay for your registration fee, we ask that you select the "Sign up and make a personal donation" option for $10.00. You are obviously more than welcome to donate more than the required $10.
8. Indicate your personal fundraising goal at the bottom. We recommend personal goals to be $100-$125. Click "Next Step."
9. Complete the next page asking for your personal contact information, t-shirt size, and more.
10. Click on "Next Step" and complete the process, including billing information. You are now registered as a team captain and others can join your team!
