WOLFPACK SPOTLIGHT APRIL 2007: CADET RYAN DOLAK

Ryan Dolak was always sure he wanted to join the military, the only question was how. Initially planning to enlist in the Army after high school, Ryan found out about the R.O.T.C program and decided that was the right path for him. Citing a sense of pride and accomplishment that comes from being “different that the average college student”, he’s been happy with the choice ever since. “ROTC has helped me maintain my grades, stay on task, and work out to maintain my strength”, says Dolak when asked how the program has benefited him. He also cites his development as a leader and increased confidence as a direct result of his time as a cadet.

Hailing from nearby Canfield, Ohio, Ryan was an active volunteer and athlete in high school. He received scholarship opportunities from the Toledo and Akron ROTC programs as well as an opportunity to attend the Citadel, but he chose John Carroll because of its beautiful campus and strong academic reputation. CDT Dolak is active in the Wolfpack Battalion as a member of the Ranger Challenge team, Pershing Rifles, and Color Guard. Although only a sophomore, Ryan is the Cannon Crew Platoon Leader for football games as well as the S-5 for Pershing Rifles.

“General” Dolak, as his friends call him, is also active on campus as a Blue Streak Ambassador, member of SUPB, and the Accounting Association. Upon commissioning, Cadet Dolak hopes to branch into military intelligence but he says he’ll be happy no matter what because the Army is where he wants to be.
