WOLFPACK SPOTLIGHT MARCH 2007: CADET ANDREW REEVES

When asked if he made the right choice in choosing the Wolfpack Battalion, CDT Reeves doesn’t hesitate to shout “hooah” (Army for affirmative). His answer reflects the tremendous pride he has for his school, ROTC program, and future employer.
Andrew Powell Reeves was born and raised in East Palestine, Ohio. In high school, Andrew excelled in sports, captaining his football team his Senior year. He first considered the Army in his Junior year after talking with a local recruiter. After thinking about it on his own, Andrew decided that ROTC was the way to go. He got ROTC scholarship offers from Colgate and Denison Universities, in addition to John Carroll, but ultimately settled on JCU because of it’s strong academics, affordability, and relative proximity to home.
Now, as an MS 3 cadet and leader of his peers, Reeves is happier than ever he chose Army ROTC. He is First Sergeant of the Pershing Rifles, active member of the Ranger Challenge team, and the Wolfpack’s representative to the school’s planning committee. When asked about his favorite part about being a cadet, Andrew immediately responded, “Airborne school”, having had the opportunity to attend the prestigious school this past summer. Andrew is unsure of what he wants to do in the Army, but he is excited to begin his career as an officer in the world’s greatest fighting force.
