MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY

Make a Difference Day is the most-encompassing national day of service held annually. Sponsored by USA Weekend and the Points of Light Foundation, it is held the fourth Saturday of every October and described as "a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors." On Make a Difference Day, members of the John Carroll community join millions of others across the country in service to local neighborhoods, organizations, and residents.

The 2007 Make a Difference Day project involved a neighborhood collection of donated food in support of the Fatima Food Drive. Volunteers assisted with bag distribution throughout University Heights and on-campus solicitations, collecting donations, sorting and repacking food, and delivering donations to the Fatima Family Center. In combination with other efforts in support of the Fatima Food Drive, participants involved in the 2007 Make a Difference Day project were able to collect enough food to provide 100 families with a complete Thanksgiving meal.

Make a Difference Day 2008 will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2008, and participation is open to JCU students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni! If you are interested in participating in Make a Difference Day, you can register online here. (If you are not already enrolled as a service participant on our website, you will be prompted to do so prior to being able to register for Make A Difference Day.) Or, please feel free to stop by the Center for Service and Social Action in AD30 in the Administration Building, or call us at 216.397.4698. We'd be happy to include you in this year's event!
