REGISTERING FOR A SERVICE ACTIVITY
Once you have searched for and found a service activity that you think fits you, you can register for it as long as spots are still available. Do this by:

- Clicking on the name of the activity; the name will be in all capital letters (see below). Once you click on it, you will be taken to a 4-tab page where you can view details about the activity, the location of the service site, FAQs about the service site, and the exact dates that you will be expected to participate in service.

- CAREFULLY review the information found under the “Details” tab! Double-check the day to make sure you are available. Make sure to check not only the “Time” of the service, but “Estimated Time Travel,” as this can significantly impact your ability to participate in the service! For example, if your service “Time” is from 1:30-3:00pm and you have a 3:30pm class, that might seem like it will work— until you check and see that the “Estimated Time Travel” is 45 minutes, which means that the van won’t bring you back to campus until 3:45pm! It’s very important to make sure you have a clear understanding of the commitment you are about to make, as you cannot “deregister” once you have registered for an activity.
CAREFULLY review the information found under the “Exact Dates” tab. This tab will provide you with every date you are expected to participate in service (except for university breaks and holidays). Again, make sure you can commit to all these dates!
- Once you are sure this service activity is a good fit for you, click “Register Now” at the top of the page.
- If you are not already logged in, you will be prompted to do so. Log in by entering the Banner Id and E-mail Address you provided in the enrollment form. If your login information does not work, contact the Center for Service and Social Action and we will check it for you.
- Click on and READ the Acceptance and Waiver of Responsibility document. This document states that you agree to 1.) accept placement in the service activity and comply with the stated conditions and 2.) assume all responsibility for any risks involved.
- Once you have read the Acceptance and Waiver of Responsibility and if you agree to its terms, check “Yes, I have read and agree to the acceptance and waiver of responsibility document.”
NOTE: If you are under the age of 18, you may NOT agree to this Acceptance and Waiver of Responsibility. You must come to the Center for Service and Social Action office so that we can get permission from your parents prior to your registering for any service activity.

- Next, if you will need transportation, select the box “Yes, I need transportation to this activity.” Even if you don’t need transportation, the Center for Service and Social Action strongly encourages all service participants to take advantage of the transportation we provide. Doing so will not only save you gas and wear and tear on your car, it will also ensure that you don’t lose your parking space and that you will be counted as present at your service (you check in at the site as well, but our van logs serve as extra confirmation that you were there). Lastly, it will also provide you with an opportunity to reflect on your service, and to share about your experience with the other participants in the van.
- Now, select the courses and/or campus activities to which you would like your service hours applied. If you are applying your service hours to a course, make sure to select the correct course number AND section number, as some professors teach more than one section of a course and both will be listed. If you are just participating in service as a volunteer or because it interests you, select “Voluntary Service” under the Campus Activity drop down box. (You must select at least one course or activity in order to process your registration.)
- Click “Submit Registration Now”
- You will receive a confirmation page stating “Registration Processing-Registration Successful!” and listing all the details about your service activity. Print this page for your records, and make a note of all days/times for your service activity in your calendar. You will also receive confirmation via email to the email address you entered into your profile. If you do not receive an email confirmation, make sure to contact us! You may have inadvertently entered an incorrect email address, and we frequently email students to notify them of changes, cancellations, etc.
