Description:
Intergenerational School is the only school of its kind in the United States. It fosters an educational community of excellence that provides experiences and skills for life-long learning and spirited citizenship for learners of all ages. It's vision is to serve as a model to encourage and invigorate communities to create new environments that empower learners of all ages as they become life-long contributors to a democratic society. Intergenerational School values personal integrity, choice and accountability, a celebration of diversity, interpersonal skills, shared and responsible use of resources, and honoring the interconnected web of life and time.

What we do there:
Children at Intergenerational School are divided based on developmental ability, not by age. Developmental stages and benchmarks approximately correspond to grades K-6. Service participants perform a variety of tasks, from working in classrooms aiding the teacher to mentoring young readers and writers in small group settings.
