Description:
Family Academy is a program that works with third graders and their families to enrich their academic skills in reading and math. We work with families in six core areas: Literacy, Financial Education and Budgeting, Safety, Social and Cultural Skills, Work Preparedness and Life Skills, Health and Nutrition and Arts and Creativity. Families come to the academy for eight week sessions throughout the school year. Family Academy reinforces family success, prevention of negative behaviors, development of skills ad CMSD Vision, Mission, Strategic Plan and Goals.

What we do there:
Service participants will assist Family Academy staff in serving meals to families, leading educational activities of students (Pre K- 12th grades), passing out and collecting information that parents are requested to complete, leading family activities, and providing tutoring assistance to the children.

IMPORTANT: Please note that this weekly activity ends on 11/17/2009.

NOTE: Participation in this service activity requires completion of a 2-step TB test and a background check through JCU's Campus Safety (216.397.4600) and Health Services (216.397.4349) offices. There is NO CHARGE for these tests. 

Participants MUST contact these offices to set up appointments by Friday, September 18th. Failure to complete these requirements will result in removal from the activity.
