GETTING STARTED in SERVICE

Participating in service through the Center for Service and Social Action is as easy as 1, 2, 3! All you have to do is:

1. Enroll as a Service Participant

All service activities sponsored by the Center for Service and Social Action are managed via our online system, so the first thing you need to do is get access to that system! To do so, you must first Enroll as a Service Participant by clicking here. Eenrollment only takes a few minutes, and you'll only need to do it one time.

Once you have enrolled, you will receive an email confirmation along with your user name (your Banner ID#; this is not editable) and password (your email address, but you can change this). You will need to enter your user name and password anytime you want to register for a service activity, or if you just want to view your own service record or edit your profile. If you forget your password, please contact the Center for Service and Social Action at 216.397.4698.

2. Take the CSSA Online Pre-Service Orientation and Quiz

All new enrollees are required to take the CSSA Online Pre-Service Orientation and Quiz prior to being released to register for service activities. This orientation is designed to help you learn about why we believe it's important to engage in service, to understand your role and responsibilities in participating in service, and to find out how our office can support your engagement in service. 3. Search and register for a Service Activity

Once you have Enrolled as a Service Participant and taken the CSSA Orientation, you may Register for a Service Activity. To do so, simply log in and click on "Search Activities" on the left menu bar. You can limit your search to activities that are appropriate for a particular course or interest area, just search for those where transportation is provided, or even search for an activity that suits a particular interest you have. If you are interested in working with a particular organization or agency, you can click on our "Community Partners" section via the left menu bar to view activities available with each partner.

Once you find an activity that fits your needs, click the "register now" link to finalize your registration for that service placement. If you are not enrolled as a Service Participant or if you have not taken the CSSA Orientation, you will not be permitted to register for a service activity. To finalize your registration, simply read and sign off on the "Acceptance and Waiver of Responsibility," confirm your need for transportation, and tell us the course/s or campus activities to which you would like us to apply your service hours.
