STUDENTS and IMMERSION EXPERIENCES
Immersion Experiences sponsored by John Carroll University's Center for Service and Social Action are typically week-long, service-based encounters within communities across the nation and the world. These experiences offer participants the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of diverse peoples and environments, and their social, cultural, and political structures. In addition, Immersion Experiences are frequently transformative, enhancing personal growth, civic awareness, and a desire for life-long learning.
Whether domestic or international, Center for Service and Social Action Immersion Experiences involve direct service, experiential learning, social and cultural activities, research, and reflection. All participants live in the communities with whom they are serving. The costs of all trips are kept to a minimum; financial aid and fund-raising opportunities are available for JCU student participants.
The Center for Service and Social Action collaborates with Campus Ministry on the application process for students wishing to participate in immersion experiences. For additional details on immersion experiences sponsored by the Center for Service and Social Action, please contact our Program Coordinator, Ted Steiner, at tsteiner@jcu.edu or at 216.397.6227. More information is also available on JCU's Immersion Experience webpage at www.jcu.edu/immersion.
