Description:
YouthAbility is an outreach program of Jewish Family Services in which young people with disabilities participate in service to their communities. YouthAbility is an innovative project that helps community service organizations adapt their programs to make them more inclusive and accommodating to individuals with disabilities.
What we do there:
Service participants in YouthAbility service opportunities partner with physically and developmentally-challenged young people in a variety of service activities. Some join together at Fieldstone Farms Therapeutic Riding Center and assist in cleaning stalls, sweeping the barn, working in the tack room, and other general duties. Other YouthAbility volunteers work at the Jewish Family Services office and assist with making small gifts, cards, and holiday decorations for the elderly; collect recyclables; help with filing; or engage in "puppy and kitty socialization" with rescued animals.
