DESCRIPTION: Service participants in this activity will assist LEAP participants at the dance; this may include hands-on assistance. There will be a DJ and food and beverages will be served. Volunteers will help with registration, encourage LEAP participants to dance (and dance with them!), encourage general participation in any activities or games, assist those in wheelchairs, serve food and beverages, and help clean up. But the main thing is to provide interaction with the participants and have fun!

NOTE: In order to participate in service with Quantum LEAP, volunteers will be asked to complete an application and waiver in the transport van on the way to service.

DESCRIPTION: Participants in this activity join teens and young adults with disabilities in "Pizza Bowls" in which all participants join in adaptive bowling, interacting, and just having fun! These programs involve participation with  individuals with physical, sensory, or developmental disabilities; service participants should be patient and understanding. Service participants who are uncomfortable working with this population are encouraged to select a different activity.

All students who are accepted for this service activity will be required to:

1. Make an intentional effort to interact with adaptive participants, not just with other JCU volunteers. The success of the program depends upon participants of all abilities interacting together.

By serving as coach/mentors, service participants assist Quantum LEAP members to reach their potential by helping them to follow instructions, by offering encouragement and feedback, and by having fun! NOTE: This activity may include hands-on assistance.  

All students who are accepted for this service activity will be required to:

1. Attend a Pre-Service Workshop the week of January 28th. 
2. Complete an application and waiver and upload them to their participant profile by Friday, February 8th. 
3. Register for and complete a background check by Friday, February 8th. 
4. Participate in weekly service at the site.
