PITTSBURGH DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE (IN RESEARCH)
Comment in email to Department of Sociology and Criminology:
"...I found out last month that I was accepted into the
Physician assistant program at Chatham University!...It's all
very interesting and it's great to be able to apply my public
health skills every day (finished Master's in Public Health at
the University of Pittsburgh)...I just wanted to say hello. I
really miss JCU-I don't think that will ever change. Thanks for
being such a wonderful mentor and professor during my time at
JCU!"

JESUIT VOLUNTEERS INTERNATIONAL
Comment in email to Department of Sociology and Criminology upon learning of
acceptance to JVI program:
I would like to extend my deep gratitude to all of you, my wonderful
professors and mentors, for your guidance that has allowed me
to be eligible for this great honor. Thank you so much!... I
especially want you to know that, in offering me the position,
they [Jesuit Volunteers International] mentioned being very impressed
with my resume, which included much of my coursework that "demonstrates
a deep understanding of human and cross-cultural interaction"...I
obviously cannot deny that the Sociology Department, and all
of you, have shaped me in these and many other ways, and you
again have my deep gratitude.

PROBATION OFFICER
Question: Do you have any information you would like to share
with the department?
Answer: Only to thank the department and the professors for doing
the incredible job of preparing students for further education

me at John Carroll.

IMMIGRATION ATTORNEY
Question: In what ways did your sociology major prepare you for
the work force?
Answer: Since I am an Immigration lawyer, I have daily interaction
with people from a wide variety of cultures and economic/education
backgrounds. My undergraduate work has not only made me more
aware of cultural issues, it has also prepared me for working
with such a variety of people. I am sensitive to issues faced
by refugees, [and their] families...I feel extremely comfortable
talking to my clients, and earning their trust because I was
prepared to relate to different cultures.

STAY-AT-HOME MOM, PART TIME POSITION AT BOSTON COLLEGE INSTITUTION
OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION AND PASTORAL MINISTRY
Question: Do you have any information you would like to share
with the department?
Answer: After JCU, I did a year of JVC (Jesuit Volunteer Corps)
in San Antonio. I didn't think I would have been inspired to do

the poverty I saw (poverty on various levels). Thank you for that!
