In 1989 the Department of Sociology and Criminology at John Carroll University, in conjunction with the Diocese of Cleveland, established the Fr. Segundo Montes Memorial Lecture Series. The series commemorates the martyrdom of Montes along with five brother Jesuits and two women murdered on the campus of the University of Central America in El Salvador.

This lecture series is co-sponsored by the Cleveland Commission on Catholic Community Action of the Diocese of Cleveland, and the Department of Sociology and Criminology, along with an array of departments and institutes from across our campus community.
