Director of Scholarship

Hi! My name is Katie Hiznay, and I am the Director of Scholarship within Kappa Alpha Theta at John Carroll University. My requirements as head of scholarship are to ensure each girl is academically eligible, which requires a cumulative GPA of 2.5 for all members and a 2.75 for all members on the Executive Board. If a member were to drop below the GPA requirement, I assist them in any way needed so that they are able to increase their GPA.

I keep track of the time each Theta spends in the library and in our study lounge by having them log their hours each visit. Two girls with the greatest amount of hours logged receives a reward at the end of each semester. I pass around the “No Skippy Jar” during chapter which rewards one girl a week who hasn’t skipped classes for the previous week. I intend on emailing a list of each girl’s phone number and major to the entire chapter so it will be easy to contact a sister with questions regarding professors, assignments, or exams.

At the end of each semester, rewards are given to girls with outstanding academic achievements. A Scholarship Pearl is given to five sisters with the highest GPAs within the chapter. The two highest GPAs also receive an award for their academic excellence. Theta focuses greatly on improving scholastics within our chapter everyday! Feel free to contact me with any questions.
