The following are events and dates currently scheduled. There may be more events planned for the future, including debates on campus featuring the University Heights mayoral candidates!!

Monday, August 31 – Wednesday, September 2
Carroll Counts Kick-Off!!
11:30am – 1pm, Atrium
D. J. Lombardo Student Center

Stop by the Schott Atrium for giveaways, food and fun as we celebrate the Carroll Counts Kick-Off.  Jump start your semester and make sure you know how to impact your world! 

Tuesday, September 8
Special edition of “Chew on This” Discussion Series in conjunction with Ride for Miles Seminar Series, Creating a Carbon Neutral Campus”.
4:00pm, Dolan Auditorium

Laura P. Christie, Climate Change Program Manager at the GreenCityBlueLake Institute of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, will be on campus to discuss John Carroll’s energy use, overuse, and recycling programs.  The topic of her presentation will focus on creating a carbon-neutral campus.

JCU Service and Internship Fair:  “Where and with Whom is Your Heart?”

Culture Fest 2009

Come to experience the diversity of Cleveland through world music, dance and performers, artisan vendors, international foods, and cultural organizations from all over northeast Ohio.

"Chew on This" Discussion Series – "Questions and Answers regarding the Cleveland Diocese Parish Reconfiguration Process"

Come to learn more about important local issues that could impact you as a student at JCU - bring your lunch! Join Rick Krivanka, a member of the Pastoral Planning Office at the Diocese of Cleveland as he discusses the parish reconfiguration plan currently underway.

Town Hall Discussion featuring University Heights Council candidates

Join us as each of the ten University Heights Council candidates share their ideas and vision for the city.

Monday, November 2
Speaker – Carl Wilkens, “Seeing Ourself in "The Other" - Life Lessons From the Rwanda Genocide”
7pm, Donahue Auditorium

Carl Wilkens was the director of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency in Rwanda when the genocide erupted there in 1994. He chose to stay in Rwanda during the genocide, and bring food, water, and medicines to several groups of orphans around the capital city of Kigali. Wilkens was the only American to remain in the country after the killings began. His decision to stay and his relief efforts are featured in Frontline’s “Ghosts of Rwanda” and “The Few Who Stayed: Defying Genocide,” an American Radio Works documentary which aired on NPR.

This event is co-sponsored by Facing History and Ourselves in conjunction with the Choosing to Participate initiative.
