CARROLL COUNTS: JCU STUDENT UNION ELECTION INFORMATION
General Student Union Election Overview
Student Union elections are held annually and are done online at the end of the fall semester. Elections are conducted through two separate processes – the first for the Executive Board and the second for the Student Union Senate.
The seven-member executive board consists of President, Executive Vice President, and Vice Presidents for Business Affairs, Judicial Affairs, Student Organizations, Programming, and Communications. Executive board candidates are nominated and slated by the last regularly scheduled senate meeting in October (Tuesday, October 27)and elections are held on Wednesday and Thursday of the first week of November (November 4-5).
The senate is made up of the six (6) highest vote-getters in each of the four classes, totaling 24 senators in all. Any full-time JCU student is eligible for running for a senate position and must submit a letter of intent to do so by the second Sunday of November (November 8). All students vote for the candidates running for their particular class in the general election held on Wednesday and Thursday of the third week in November (November 18-19).

Tuesday, October 27: Executive Board nominations accepted
Wednesday-Thursday, November 4-5: Executive Board Elections
Sunday, November 8: Senate letters of intent due
Wednesday-Thursday, November 18-19: Senate Elections

Election Information meeting – Coming soon in the fall, there will be a few opportunities to meet with the Elections Chair to provide potential candidates with more information about how to get involved with the election.
Candidate meeting – Before candidates begin their official campaign, there is a mandatory candidate meeting held with the Elections Committee to explain the campaigning rules and regulations and answer any questions.
