Tuohy Center for Interreligious Understanding
Encounter people of many faiths. Ask big questions. Learn how religion shapes our world—and how dialogue can build a more just, peaceful future.
The Tuohy Center for Interreligious Understanding brings together students, scholars, and community leaders from diverse religious traditions for meaningful conversation and shared action. Rooted in the Jesuit mission and inspired by the document Nostra Aetate, the center helps the campus explore religious diversity with curiosity, respect, and courage.
Why Interreligious Understanding at JCU
At John Carroll University, faith and justice are closely connected. Students live, learn, and serve alongside people from many religious and non religious backgrounds. The Tuohy Center helps them:
- Understand how religious traditions shape culture, ethics, and public life.
- Build friendships and coalitions across lines of belief and practice.
- Develop the tools of dialogue, empathy, and critical thinking they need in a pluralistic world.
