Peace, Justice, and Human Rights

The Peace, Justice, and Human Rights (PJHR) Program offers an interdisciplinary major and minor, consistent with John Carroll University’s mission to inspire individuals to excel in learning, leadership, and service, and to prepare students for careers in nonprofits, public service, law, and social entrepreneurship, helping to create a more just, peaceful, and equitable world.

Programs of Study

Consistent with Catholic social teaching that sees peace as inseparable from justice, and the extension of human rights as a fundamental ethical obligation, the PJHR Program also promotes political pluralism, cultural and religious diversity, ecological balance, and nonviolent conflict resolution. Its fundamental goal is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and creativity to become advocates for justice and promote peace.
