What sets JCU Apart?

At JCU, we have a bigger vision of college. We’re here to equip you with all the tools you’ll need to translate knowledge into judgment and judgment into inspired ethical action. Our vision is greater than the pursuit of a degree; it’s a quest of courageous discovery that empowers you to think critically, take on the world’s greatest challenges, and understand and adapt to societal, ethical, and environmental challenges. We surround you with a network of teachers, mentors, industry experts, and like-minded friends. We raise the bar on what it means to do good while doing the right thing. So if you’re ready to develop the skills employers seek in a complicated world that needs your leadership skills, then it’s time to take the next step with a Jesuit education from John Carroll University.

The depth and breadth of a degree from the Boler College of Business will prepare you as a leader capable of making difficult and ethical choices. As a Boler student, we’ll help you map out and execute an academic and experiential learning plan that will launch you into a career with the skills and experience to change the world. Our close location to Cleveland means that you’ll have access to alumni and internships throughout the city at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Sherwin-Williams, Akron-based Goodyear, and many more. And these internships often lead to jobs.

No matter where technology or industry goes, you’ll be ready to adapt and lead change. Can technology and big data make the world a better place? It may bring greater safety, health, convenience, and economic opportunity, yet it may also be used to produce inequality, discrimination, and violations of privacy. As a computer science, healthcare information technology, or data science major, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to gain real-world experience at Fortune 500 companies as well as at start-ups and the Cleveland Clinic. You’ll also explore the complex relationships between data, technology, and society.

Innovations in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics lead to new products, emerging systems, and life-changing discoveries that shape our world and build our future. JCU students gain hands-on, real-world experience by collaborating with STEM faculty mentors to conduct cutting-edge research. Our faculty members are heavily involved in studying emerging science and technology and actively involve JCU students to be active partners. This means you'll be learning and conducting research alongside mentors that are leaders in their respective fields.

Located just 10 miles from Downtown Cleveland, you'll have opportunities available to advance your career in expanding fields of science, healthcare, and technology. Students majoring in the sciences and technology have interned at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, NASA Glenn Research Center, the Cleveland Botanical Garden, Parker Hannifin, and Sherwin Williams.

John Carroll looks at entrepreneurship as a way to develop innovative thinking and an enterprising mindset, with a focus on teaching students to recognize opportunities in both for-profit and nonprofit organizations. While academic entrepreneurship programs were once exclusively business-focused, the entrepreneurship minor is available to all students at John Carroll, regardless of major.

The Muldoon Center for Entrepreneurship offers programs like the Student Hatchery, a unique resource to incubate your idea and bring your product or service to market. This program opens doors for students through hands-on experience with professors and professional entrepreneurs from successful local businesses.
