The First 40 Days at John Carroll University

Embark on the First 40 Days at John Carroll University, and launch your inspired future by finding your people, place, and purpose. During this transformative experience, you’ll build lasting friendships, connect with mentors who will accompany you, and learn how to navigate the academic landscape. Each week, you’ll have the opportunity to visit Cleveland’s most exciting locations, volunteer in the community, cheer on your classmates as they take the field, and participate in a wide variety of engaging on- and off-campus programming. Your path to personal growth of mind, body, and spirit starts here. No matter where you want to go or what you want to do, we’ll help you get there.

  • Join us for Waka Flocka Flame. Gates open at 8:00 p.m. This event is free to students!

  • 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
  • Student Center Atrium 
  • Happy First Day of Classes! Stop by the Student Center Atrium for a Donut to celebrate the first day of classes and get oriented to the campus.

  • 2:30 p.m. - 2:50 p.m.
  • St. Ignatius Plaza
  • Take a break from your day and join the JCU community for this weekly tradition, where JCU students, faculty, and staff have a chance to connect and catch up

Mass of Holy Spirit & Community Picnic

  • 12:05 p.m with the community picnic to follow 
  • Church of the GESU
  • Join us as we gather for mass to celebrate the opening of the academic year. Gather as a community for lunch following the Mass of the Holy Spirit. No meal plan is required and all are welcome! Keep an eye on Inside JCU for rain plan.

CSDI & CSSA

The Center for Student Diversity & Inclusion (CSDI) and Center for Service-Learning and Social Action (CSSA) provides services and support for students from historically represented communities and offers service programs that offer experiential learning, civic engagement and leadership development.
