Explore Our Priorities

John Carroll University's promise is to develop the intellect, character, leadership, and service potential of every single one of our students so they will become the thought leaders, change agents, community builders, and ethical thinkers needed for the future

The Boler College of Business graduates students who live inspired lives. They lead with an ethical foundation, excel in service with and for others and exemplify professional excellence, a strong work ethic and superior decision-making.

THE BOLER STRATEGY: BUSINESS EDUCATION FOR A CHANGING WORLD

A Boler College education incorporates centuries-old Jesuit values into imagining and creating a new approach to business education-one that offers new career trajectories for bright minds to solve the world's most pressing challenges.  Our strategy is to marry business program innovation, strong corporate partnerships and bedrock Ignatian values to position the Boler College of Business as the region's conduit to a sustainable future for Northeastern Ohio and adjacent markets.

In today's fast-paced and rapidly changing, highly technological environment, the Boler College seeks to be a responsive business school.   With the addition of a new School of Accountancy and Information Science and a new School of Leadership and Social Innovation, the Boler College of Business is expanding upon a solid foundation of core business strengths with new programs that will meet the future demands of business education rooted in Ignatian values.

Throughout the last 100 years, we've seen John Carroll student-athletes hoist OAC championship trophies, earn All-American honors and transform into young men and women who lead and serve, not only on their teams, but in all aspects of their lives. Our teams are able to succeed in part because of the loyal support the JCU community has provided over the last century.

Blue Streak student-athletes are held to high standards on and off the field of competition and are some of the hardest working student-athletes in all of Division III Athletics. Additional support is necessary to provide the best experience possible for every student-athlete who dons the blue and gold! Together, we can ensure a successful future for JCU Athletics.

If you are interested in supporting JCU Athletics, please contact Rory O'Neil at (216) 397-4516 or roneil@jcu.edu.

Without a doubt, the greatest supporter of the Blue Streaks continues to be the Blue Gold Club, which provides resources to enhance the student-athlete experience.

Since it’s inception in 1982, the Blue Gold Club has been the official booster club for varsity athletics at John Carroll University. The Club has been instrumental in providing additional support for facility renovations & enhancements, training improvements, capital support for individual teams, awards, recognition, in addition to other athletic support that benefits ALL varsity student-athletes.

Gifts to the Blue Gold Club will support JCU Athletics' current and most pressing needs.

Direct support to each individual varsity athletic team is instrumental in ensuring that each coach is able to provide an amazing student-athlete experience. The creation of funds dedicated to supporting individual teams (restricted operating funds and endowed funds) allows the coaches of each team the ability to enhance the team experience and fund opportunities and experiences over and beyond what annual budgets cover. Enhanced experiences assist in recruiting exceptional student-athletes to matriculate to John Carroll and provide lifelong memories for JCU student-athletes.

This fund will empower and enable the Senior Director of Athletics to address funding challenges that the athletic department faces on a year to year basis. Some years the women's volleyball team requires new uniforms, the football team might need an equipment upgrade, or the coach of a specific team might need an increased coaching or training stipends. JCU has 21 Varsity athletic teams and each year they present unforeseen challenges that can be addressed by this fund.

The President's Opportunity Fund provides necessary support for the President to meet immediate priorities and strategic initiatives.

The President's Opportunity Fund provides resources for the President to meet immediate priorities important to the university on an on-going basis.  The fund supports student initiatives, new projects and university priorities as they develop and allows the President flexibility to work proactively with students, faculty and administrators.

John Carroll is a vibrant campus community because of a multitude of opportunities and experiences that greet JCU students once they leave the classroom. Investing in and enhancing the student experience for every John Carroll student is necessary to create the dynamic on-campus experience that allows us to to fulfill our promise of pursuing the Jesuit principle of "Cura Personalis" (educating the entire person).

Magis Learning Commons

Renovation of the lower level of Grasselli Library & Breen Learning Center and the Breen Learning center into a new collaborative learning space aligned with creative classrooms for skills enhancement, professional development, employment-readiness, writing center, tutoring, mini-courses to be more career ready, Career Services, Center for Service and Social Action. Students will be able to walk into the Magis Learning Commons through a new entrance at the ground level. Here is where the University lives it's learning outcomes. A Magis Learning Commons will provide a second hub for students to learn outside of their classrooms.

Center for Service and Social Action

Last year, 138,783 hours of service were contributed by John Carroll University students. Encouraging service toward others is one of JCU's four main learning goals and key to developing future leaders and "men and women's for others." Expanding and strengthening the Center for Service and Social Action allows the University to increase the number of service learning programs on campus,  inspire  a life-long commitment to serving others in our students, and  helps integrate the University and our students into the local and global community.

Campus Ministry Immersion Trip Program

JCU students have opportunities to participate in over 10 different national and international immersion experiences in locations as close as Cleveland, Ohio and as far away as Ecuador. These life changing experiences invite and challenge participants to enter into solidarity with the people, culture, history, and other realities of the region. Each immersion focuses on several specific social justice issues relevant to each location. These experiences are central to the student-experience at JCU, and require additional funding each  year in order to take place. Additionally, each year there are students who are prevented from participating in these programs due to the price of attending.

Experiential Learning
Employers and graduate schools expect students to have ample experience applying their knowledge to real-world problems, and doing real-world research. JCU students need expanded opportunities outside of the classroom to develop their capacities for critical thinking, data analysis, and professional communication. Funding for undergraduate research travel, paid internships, a 'Classrooms without Borders' endowment, and further funding of undergraduate research funds is critical to ensuring that JCU students continue to be sought by the best employers and the most prestigious graduates schools in the country.

Center for Career Services

John Carroll University's goal for Career Services is to secure additional support and resources to strengthen collaborations with the community for vocational guidance, teacher guidance, job placement, career counseling, and professional networking through innovative connections and partnerships. Career services is becoming more externally focused with a staff that engages and connects with stakeholders. Key initiatives involve supporting the Associate Vice President for Career Services' efforts for additional and increased professional resources to train and mentor students as well as funding to facilitate moving the Center into the lower level of Grasseli Library.
