On December 7, 2016, the Boler College of Business celebrated the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Boler College of Business. In 1996, John Carroll named the business school in recognition of John ’56 and Mary Jo Boler’s major philanthropic support to the University.

Dr. Alan Miciak, dean of the Boler College of Business, invited faculty, staff and students to an afternoon lecture in Donahue Auditorium featuring, Andrew Savitz, a principal at Sustainable Business Strategies, an independent consultancy located in Boston, Massachusetts. Savitz addressed the topic, “Sustainability: A Business and Ethical Imperative.” A standing room only audience listened to Savitz talk about a company’s “sweet spot,” where its business interests and the interests of the environment and society intersect.

An evening reception was held downtown Cleveland at Thompson Hine in Key Tower. More than 120 attendees gathered, including alumni, members of the Boler family, past and present members of John Carroll’s Board of Directors, Rev. Robert Niehoff, S.J., Boler faculty and JCU senior leadership team. Andrew Savitz was the keynote speaker.

Dean Miciak also highlighted the recently completed strategic plan for the Boler College of Business, Boldly Inspired. “The plan will enable us to build on our nationally ranked business school and provide a vision for the future: Graduating students that will lead inspired lives – inspired business lives, he said. Prospective and current students, longstanding corporate partners, and the region look to the Boler College to lead the way forward with a strong Jesuit grounding that provides more than knowledge and experience,” concluded Miciak.
