Saban Adana, Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management

In the vast world of operations and supply chains, companies and organizations perpetually look to leverage incentives — rewards and punishments — to gain efficiency and value. Saban Adana and his colleagues will present at the Decision Sciences Institute 2020 Conference in late November 2020. The conference covers decision science as it applies across a broad range of business functions, from new product development and HR to Adana’s expertise, logistics and supply chain management. Adana summarizes his presentation:

We’re looking at the impact of performance-based contracting (PBC) — features such as incentive alignment, goal congruence, joint knowledge generation — when they combine with supply chain collaboration (information sharing and collaborative communication). We collected data from hundreds of suppliers, logistics managers, and operation managers. In the end, we found a positive relationship between PBC features and quality investment.
