Boler College of Business students, Timothy Platko, Josh Dzurko and Steven Schmitz were the winning team at the fifth annual DDR Real Estate Case Competition. Tim, a MSA candidate and Josh and Steven, both in the MBA program, were chosen to represent John Carroll University by winning the local competition and presented at DDR’s headquarters in Beachwood on Thursday, November 9, 2017.

This was the fifth year for the competition and the third that John Carroll has participated. It is the second year in a row that the JCU team has won the competition. The other schools in the competition were Colgate, The Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve University. Senior managers at DDR judged the teams and declared the Boler team as the winner.

Each team had to choose from one of the three cases in the competition, REIT Strategies, Future of Retail, and Shopping Center Redevelopment. The JCU team presented the Redevelopment Case and impressed the judges with their knowledge of the case, their extensive research, creative ideas and their ability to answer the judge’s questions.

As the winning team, Tim, John and Steven received $5,000 and an opportunity to interview with DDR.

Congratulations Tim, Josh and Steven and thank you for making JCU and the Boler College of Business proud.
