UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OHIO – John Carroll University has selected two speakers to deliver keynote addresses during the 2022 Commencement Exercises in May.

 

Marla E. Pérez-Davis, Ph.D., Director of NASA Glenn Research Center will deliver the keynote address for the Graduate ceremony on May 21, 2022, at 11:00 am.

 

Jackie Acho, Ph.D., President of the Acho Group and author of Currency of Empathy will deliver the keynote address for the Undergraduate ceremony on May 22, 2022, at 11:00 am.

 

Dr. Pérez-Davis serves as the director of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's John H. Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. Dr. Pérez-Davis oversees the planning, organizing, and directing of the activities required in accomplishing all missions assigned to the center. The Glenn staff consists of more than 3,200 civil service and support contractor employees and has an annual budget of more than $900 million. Prior to becoming the director, Dr. Pérez-Davis served as Glenn’s deputy director. Pérez-Davis previously served as director of the Aeronautics Research Office at Glenn Research Center (2010 to 2014), and Chief of the Project Liaison and Integration Office (2007 to 2010).

 

Dr. Acho is President of The Acho Group, a strategy and leadership consulting firm. Prior to founding The Acho Group in 2005, she was a Partner of McKinsey & Company. She has worked for technology, industrial, academic, nonprofit, and economic development clients on a variety of issues, with a particular focus on growth and innovation, strategy, and leadership development for 25 years. Dr. Acho’s book, Currency of Empathy, focuses on nurturing empathy in our children and ourselves in an effort to mold happier, healthier, more productive communities and societies.
